Review - American Singles

American Singles is a basic online dating site ... but a good one.

There aren't a lot of bells and whistles, but the rates are very good and get even better if you sign up for several months. Your initial membership rate is locked in - this means if you sign up for 3 months and decide to continue one month at a time after it expires, you will continue to pay the lower rate.

Features include the usual - search, instant messaging, "teases", who's online, email and chat. One nice "extra" is the "your matches" email - if you choose, they will notify you about new members who match your search preferences. The web site itself is very easy to use. I personally thought the quality of the people I met was higher than on comparable sites in the same price range, but your mileage may vary! We've heard good things about their customer service.

Our main gripes with American Singles are a rather limited search function and an annoying quirk in filling out your profile - they give you a page with a dozen or more questions and then force you to either answer all or none of them. If they ever address those two issues we'll give them at least another half star.

The Good:	Easy to use, rates are inexpensive and get even better if you sign up for several months at a time.
The Flaws:	Not a lot of frills and extras, limited search capabilities.
The bottom line:	Despite a few quirks, this is a good, well-priced and very easy-to use online personals website.
